Last week the Union of Catholic Mothers held their AGM. It has been a busy year with many events and speakers; the highlight of the year was our 70th Anniversary.
We have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to two wonderful presentations during our preparation for Lent. John Mannix & Dave Wells spoke to us, in a packed parish hall, about how different people engage with the spiritual and religious dimensions of their lives and how we shouldn’t feel anxious about engaging in discussions, for fear of not knowing the ‘right answers’. On Thursday 7 April, at 7.30 pm in the Hall, John Mannix will address our relationship with faith. He says, " Many adult Catholics are unsure about what the 'official' Catholic view is on various matters of theology or ethics. As a result, they can feel anxious about engaging in discussions about life and faith, for fear they might show that they don't know (or perhaps don't agree with) the 'right' answers.
This month's Reflections Evening will take place on Tuesday 12 April at 7.30 pm. The theme is ‘Walk with Jesus’ and there will be music, readings and silence for Passiontide, in candlelight – can you spare an hour?
On April 17 Clare Goldie will run the London Marathon in memory of her mum, Marie Goldie, who died last year. She is fund raising for her mum's favourite charity, The Children's Society.
